Tech City launches talent recruitment and mentoring drive, spearheaded by former MD of LinkedIn Kevin Eyres – which begins with the Tech City Mentorship programme.
Kevin Eyres, former MD of LinkedIn, last month launched a drive to harness the best of UK talent for Tech City London.
Kevin will lead all talent initiatives in his new role on the Tech City Investment Organisation’s (TCIO) Advisory Team. The first of these is the Mentorship Programme, which by September will match at least five top non-executives to start-ups in Tech City. Entrepreneurs will be invited to pitch for a mentor at events hosted by TCIO in the Summer.
Kevin, who will also be the first Mentor of the Programme, said:
“We’ve got a real opportunity to help make Tech City the digital capital of Europe. The basic assets are already in place and the momentum is growing. Now we need to foster this in every way we can to ensure it reaches its full potential. One of the main ways to do this is through delivering and developing talent.
“The Mentorship programme we’re launching today will match high calibre non-exec talent to entrepreneurs. I’m proud to be the first Mentor and delighted to have been asked to lead this talent initiative.”
We’re asking the Tech City community to help shape this programme, and entrepreneurs can email their suggestions and thoughts to [email protected]
Minister for Trade and Investment, Lord Green, welcomed Kevin’s appointment:
“Kevin’s experience of leading many high growth technology businesses and growing LinkedIn across Europe makes him the right person to lead this programme, helping to identify and nurture entrepreneurial business talent.
“By working with experienced executives such as Kevin, start-up entrepreneurs will gain the extra support and advice needed to grow into successful, globally competitive businesses.
“We’ve seen huge organic growth in UK technology talent over the last couple of years. We want to support this and are calling on the Tech City community – from start-ups to established businesses – to share their thoughts and ideas on how we can make this programme a success.”
