Online publishing and event marketing start-up takes root in the capital to help connect a thriving social scene amid the entrepreneur community.
Spoonfed Media relocated to Tech City from West London over 2 years ago, establishing themselves at Dalby House in Angel near the Old Street roundabout. They were drawn east by the promise of joining a vibrant and rapidly-expanding community of like-minded start-ups where they could expand their business.
Originally founded in 2007 the day after co-founders Alexander Will and Henry Erskine Crum finished university, Spoonfed is the ultimate web and mobile guide for things to do in London, with over 30,000 events listed every month including gigs, arts, comedy, theatre and clubbing. Spoonfed’s personalisation tools makes it easy for users to find their favourite events and share them with friends. In 2010 Spoonfed Media launched event marketing software Bullseyehub, rapidly signing up hundreds of customers across the UK which has fuelled the company’s rapid growth.
Since moving to the area the company has expanded to more than 30 people and developed strong ties to the area. With Cake Thursdays and regular barbecues helping expand their network of colleagues and associates, the Spoonfed team have found their location in Tech City a huge help in helping them expand their network, whether it’s with investors in the City or talent from the surrounding area.
Henry Erskine Crum, Co-founder, said:
“We’ve really found a second home in this area. It’s exciting to feel part of a large community of like-minded start-ups driven by passionate, motivated people. There’s a real sense of collaboration and support between all the companies we’ve encountered since moving here, which we’ve found inspiring.
“The reasonable rents and access to the City and other companies are what drew us here initially, but now that we’ve established ourselves we couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. It’s also a huge advantage to be able to offer existing and prospective employees a slice of the East London lifestyle with access to some of the best bars, clubs and events anywhere in the country.”
