Along with our partners, Innovate UK and Cambridge Wireless, we announced the seven winners of the Internet of Things (IoT) Launchpad competition in December.

The Launchpad comprises of four key elements: three rounds of applications; a Supplier Showcase event delivered by Cambridge Wireless; a set of business support activities from our corporate partners; and an Investor Day to be delivered next week.

Ahead of the Investor Day, we’re running a series of blog posts to give you an insight into each of the winners, who will be pitching their startup at the event.

Second in the series is a project from Nwave and Kisan Hub, who have combined their efforts for a project with the aim to digitise farm enterprises and food crops through wireless remote collection of data from multiple in-field sensors in real time.

Through the use of this technology, farmers can connect agricultural sensors into a low-power, wide-area network. Information can then be aggregated/analysed on an integrated dashboard to improve the decision-making process.

With the two companies working side-by-side to make this a reality, they’re understandably excited about the prospect of gaining funding collaboratively. NWave CEO, Jonathan Wiggin gave his thoughts ahead of the investor day:

“Nwave and KisanHub are very excited to be working together on a project that we believe will bring the benefits of the Internet of Things to farmers internationally, increasing global food security while looking after the environment through lower inputs of valuable resources. We are looking forward to pitching to investors at the Innovate UK pitching day, and are confident that we will find an investor who shares our vision of a smarter future for farming, and wants to become a part of it.”
