The annual event celebrating the capital’s global position as a hotbed of tech innovation, business success, entrepreneurship and creative talent will kick off on June 15th
Tech City UK and techUK have today been unveiled as strategic partners for next month’s London Technology Week 2015 – the annual showcase celebrating the capital’s position as a hotbed of tech innovation, digital entrepreneurship and creative talent.
Tech City UK will be a core partner for a number of the headline and community events taking place across the capital throughout the week: including the launch event with London & Partners, the Europas, Open House with Tech City News, Bloomberg Smarter Cities, and Innovate Finance’s Money Talks – VCs Take the Stage event, amongst others.
London Technology Week 2015, organised by UBM EMEA in association with London & Partners and Tech London Advocates, will build on last year’s success by introducing a programme of headline events focused on six key themes: talent and education; innovation and growth; investment and funding; coming to London and going global; diversity; and the social impact of technology.
The Interop CIO summit in Partnership with techUK takes place on Wednesday 18 June at ExCeL London as part of the flagship event of London Technology Week, Interop London. It will feature CIO speakers from many of the UK’s leading organisations to discuss and debate the key technology and transformation issues facing today’s and tomorrow’s CIO leaders. techUK will also be participating on panels about Enterprise Mobility and Women in Technology, amongst others.
Katy Turner, our CMO comments, “Last year’s London Technology Week spotlighted the strength and diversity of the UK’s digital community, which has continued to display rapid growth well into 2015. Nowhere is this better reflected than London’s own tech scene, which is well spread throughout the capital. Different hotspots have emerged all over the city, from Croydon to Kentish Town to Notting Hill to Stratford. These encompass specialisms including adtech, fintech and creative tech. Everyone at Tech City UK is delighted to be playing such a key part in this year’s programme of events, which will build on the hugely successful inaugural London Technology Week to cement the UK’s position as the European tech capital: an ecosystem with all the talent, funding and expertise needed to help digital businesses to flourish.”
Blaise Hammond, Marketing Director at techUK, comments “London Technology Week demonstrates the potential of our capital to act as an engine for growth for the rest of the UK. The range of events highlight the opportunities and advantages of doing business in the UK, burnishing our tech credentials and demonstrating our ability to build world-class products. No other event does more for the UK’s digital community and we are thrilled to a strategic partner for London Technology Week.”
Launched by Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and former Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, last year’s inaugural event saw more than 40,000 people attend 203 events across the capital, providing a global showcase of London’s strengths.
This year’s event comes after a period of continued growth for the UK’s digital sector, with more than 1.46 million people now employed in digital technology companies and employment growth at 5.45 per cent annually.
