This week we convened a meeting of leading policymakers who are working on the EU Digital Single Market strategy, as well as founders from the digital businesses that the proposed strategy would most effect.
Chaired by Tech Crunch Editor-at-Large, Mike Butcher, the goal of the session – which took place at the Digital Catapult at King’s Cross – was to enable digital business community the opportunity to get the answers they needed, influence the officials and shape the debate.
With incredible views of St Pancras in the background, a full house was present, including senior representatives from Future Fifty members, FarFetch, TransferWise, Lyst, HouseTrip, RateSetter, iHorizon and Made.com.
Some of the main points that were brought up were fiscal harmonisation, geoblocking, the impact of the DSM on data regulation, as well as IP and broadband infrastructural development.
The panel included:
Robert Madelin – EU Director General, Digital Agenda
Ning Li – CEO, Made.com (Future Fifty)
Andrew Robb – COO, Farfetch (Future Fifty)
Isidro Laso Ballesteros – Head of Startup Europe Sector, European Commission
Wendy Tan White – Partner, Curious Capital. Formerly CEO, Moonfruit
