Luke lang, CMO and co-founder at Crowdcube and Wendy Jephson, co-founder and Chief Behavioural Officer at Sybernetix discuss the importance of strong business leadership from launch through to scaling.

Crowdcube has expanded its team significantly since launching in 2011, and now has more than 80 employees in four offices across Europe. Sybenetix is on the verge of expansion.

In this interview Luke and Wendy discuss their experiences of going from having just a few members of staff to an organisation spread across several offices, how to manage that growth, introducing new layers of management and new processes to aid that transition, as well as how your role as a founder has to evolve in line.

‘The challenge to any entrepreneur is getting people to follow you’, Wendy says.”You need to be able to trust others to do a good job. You can’t micro manage and be too much of a perfectionist,” according to Luke.

Both agree that you have to give control to those lower down the leadership chain if your company is to grow.

Founder to Founder episode 5 sees Luke and Wendy delve into these challenges and more in the video below. Prefer to listen as a podcast?
